Siam Noodles and Food (Summer 2026) by Gigi

New Step: Excuse me, are you a J-1 student?
Gigi: Yes, I'm a J-1 student.


New Step: Please introduce yourself.
Gigi: Hello, my name is Gigi. I come from Chiang Mai University. I'm a fourth-year student. I'm working at Siam Noodles, Soldotna. I'm working as a busser.


New Step: What does a busser have to do every day
Gigi: So basically, at Siam Noodles, I have to clean the tables and greet the customers when they come in, and then take the orders and make the drinks, and also clean my station when do the drinks barista as well.


New Step: What is it like to work at Siam Noodles?
Gigi: At Siam Noodles, you know, I would say it's like I'm working with my relatives, not like, um, because they take care of us so well. I get fed, so I feel like working here is like home. I get to meet a lot of people every day, and I get to practice my English, and I also get new experience from, like, I got a lot of stuff talking to customers, which is precious experience. I think I would never get it if I didn't come here.


New Step: So, what's it like in Soldotna?
Gigi: I would say it's a very peaceful city and people are so nice. Everyone greeted me. Not too crowded, not too quiet. 


New Step: By joining the Work and Travel Program here, what did you gain, or what did you just improve about yourself?
Gigi: I think I have gained social skills because usually I spend time with myself, but here I get to experience spending time with my friends, new friends here, and customers and coworkers, and, other than that, communication skills in English.


New Step: Why did you join this program with New Step?
Gigi: ฺBecause last year my brother joined this program with New Step, and I have heard a lot that New Step takes care of its participants very well, so I think I experienced that before, so you can trust New Step and join us!!!
